IIMA is the First Management School in India to set up an endowment fund and successfully manage unrestricted and flexible financial instruments towards driving its academic mission and long-term vision.

The Endowment Fund is the Unified Philanthropic Arm of IIM Ahmedabad, which institutionalises alumni giving and channels contributions from corporates and CSR partners, enabling investment in world-class education, breakthrough research, and strategic initiatives – ensuring financial sustainability, attracting top talent, and shaping the future of management education.

Genesis
More than a thousand years ago, when scholars gathered under the red-brick towers of Nalanda or the bustling courtyards of Takshashila, their pursuit of knowledge was made possible by something timeless: the generosity of patrons, kings, and communities who believed in sustaining learning for generations.
This spirit of collective giving, of building something larger than oneself, is what allowed these institutions to shine as beacons of knowledge for the ancient world.
Centuries later, this idea found its strongest expression in the West. Harvard, Yale, Oxford, Cambridge, all grew into global centres of excellence, not only because of great minds but because they were supported by endowments: long-term funds that ensured universities could dream boldly, act independently, and serve society endlessly.
In 2020, the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad carried this legacy forward by establishing the Indian Institute Of Management Ahmedabad Endowment Fund (IIMAEF), the first of its kind at any management institute in India. Founded on the collective vision of its alumni, the fund is not just a financial instrument; It is a promise to the future that the spirit of learning, innovation, and societal contribution will endure beyond generations.
